EV Charging for Hotels & Hospitality Properties
Hotel guests with EVs filter properties by charging availability — and stay longer once there. Gorgen installs commercial-grade Level 2 and DC fast charging for hotels across the Inland Empire, with full incentive coordination.

Why EV Charging Matters for Hotels & Hospitality
The hotel industry is navigating a guest preference shift that mirrors what multifamily saw five years ago: EV-driving guests — who skew toward higher income and higher spend — are actively filtering properties by charging availability. For Inland Empire hotels serving the I-10, I-15, and SR-60 corridors, EV charging is no longer a novelty amenity. It is a booking factor.
The economics for hotels are favorable. Southern California Edison's Charge Ready program covers 100% of make-ready infrastructure costs for qualifying commercial properties in SCE territory — the same program available to apartment communities. Combined with CALeVIP equipment rebates and the federal 30C tax credit, most hotel properties can install a meaningful charging deployment at dramatically reduced net cost.
COMMON CHALLENGES
Guests filter by EV charging on booking platforms
Major travel platforms including Google Hotel Search, Expedia, and Booking.com surface EV charging as a guest amenity filter. Properties without chargers are invisible to a growing segment of high-value travelers.
Overnight dwell time is perfect for Level 2
A Level 2 charger adds 50–80 miles of range per hour. A 6–10 hour overnight stay means a guest arrives depleted and leaves with a full battery — without any staff involvement.
Parking lot electrical service often needs upgrading
Hotel surface lots and structured parking frequently have limited electrical service to the parking field. SCE Charge Ready covers the panel upgrade and conduit run — the most expensive portion of any retrofit installation.
Guest billing requires PMS-integrated networked chargers
Guests expect to pay for charging at checkout or through their room account. Networked chargers with property management system integration are required — standard outlet installs cannot support this.
The California Incentive Stack
Inland Empire commercial properties can stack three major incentive programs — in many cases reducing the effective cost of installation to near zero.
SCE Charge Ready
Make-ready infrastructure: trenching, conduit, panel upgrades, and electrical wiring to charger location.
For qualifying properties in SCE territory. Zero out-of-pocket for infrastructure.
CALeVIP Rebate
Per-charger rebate on Level 2 and DC fast charging equipment installed at commercial properties.
Stackable with SCE Charge Ready and federal tax credits.
30C Tax Credit
30% of total equipment and installation costs for commercial EV charging property.
For qualifying commercial properties and businesses. Consult your tax advisor.

Our Process for Hospitality Properties
01
Site Assessment & Demand Analysis
We evaluate your parking layout, electrical panel capacity, and guest volume to determine the right charger count, type, and placement. If you're applying for SCE Charge Ready, this assessment satisfies the pre-application load study requirement.
02
Incentive Applications & Permitting
We submit the SCE Charge Ready pre-application, prepare CALeVIP rebate documentation, and file building permits with your local jurisdiction — all before installation begins. Gorgen manages every agency touchpoint.
03
Installation & PMS Integration
Networked chargers are installed, commissioned, and configured for guest billing. We support integration with major hotel property management systems and include staff onboarding so your team can support guests from day one.

A practical starting point is 5–15% of parking spaces in Phase 1 — approximately 5 to 15 ports per 100 rooms, depending on your guest demographic and property location. We recommend installing conduit infrastructure to serve 30–50% of spaces during the initial build so future expansion requires only adding charger units, not re-trenching. We provide a demand analysis and phased deployment plan as part of your free site assessment.
Yes. Networked Level 2 chargers integrate with most major hotel property management systems (PMS) including Opera, Maestro, and Cloudbeds through charging network platform APIs. Guests are billed per kWh through the network app or the session is added to their folio for checkout. Some properties offer complimentary charging as an amenity. We help you evaluate which billing model fits your brand and guest profile.
Yes. Commercial properties in SCE territory — including hotels — qualify for SCE Charge Ready, which covers 100% of make-ready infrastructure costs: trenching, conduit runs, panel upgrades, and wiring to each charger location. The charger units themselves are covered separately by CALeVIP (up to $3,500 per Level 2 unit). We verify program eligibility and manage both applications as part of our standard project service.
For most hotels, Level 2 is the right choice. Overnight stays provide 6–10 hours of dwell time — enough for Level 2 to fully charge any EV. DC fast charging is significantly more expensive to install and operate (demand charges), and the speed advantage is irrelevant for guests who plug in for the night. The exception is hotels near highway corridors (I-10, I-15) where road-trip guests need a rapid top-up during a meal stop — in that scenario, a small number of DCFC units alongside Level 2 may be warranted.
Under California AB 1236, local jurisdictions must approve EV charger permits within 20 business days of a complete application. We prepare and file all permit documentation — electrical plans, load calculations, manufacturer specifications — and coordinate with SCE for utility interconnection. Most Inland Empire hotel projects are permitted within 3–5 weeks. We manage the full process; you do not need to interface with the city building department.
